Off to Be the Wizard (Magic 2.0 #1) by Scott Meyer
I stumbled upon this book not knowing what I was getting. I found I rather liked it and I am looking forward to reading the next books in the series.
Off to Be the Wizard combines the knowledge of the information age with the superstitious knowings of the medieval era. Martin is a computer aficionado working a dead-end job when he happens upon coding that allows him to alternate reality because 'reality' is nothing more than a computer program! His newfound skills, unfortunately, cause problems because they get a little out of hand. He doesn't want to spend his life in jail, so to skip justice, Martin travels back in time to the Medieval era to pose as a wizard. What ensues is action, adventure, intrigue, and taking out Merlin.
I would have to say my favorite part about this book was Martin making a complete fool of himself because he's a know-it-all. He quickly learns there are plenty other smarter than him and he needs to be humble enough to listen so he can survive in Medieval times.
I listened to this as an audiobook and loved every second of it. If you’re interested, find it on Amazon at a cost of $4.99, or if you are a Kindle Unlimited subscriber read and listen to it for free.
